I am so fortunate to be a part of several meaningful networks – business women, other photographers, and the ubiquitous social media networks that, if cultivated, can prove very worthwhile – and sometimes those networks mesh and overlap in extremely satisfying ways. Such was the overlap that led to this session. Through a photography business management course I took last year, combined with my involvement in DC’s powerhouse Her Corner network, and some chance friendships kept up via Facebook, I organized a day long women’s portraiture “skills shoot” for myself and two area photographer friends. We had two models (one a professional model and actress, the other a gorgeous DC yoga teacher I had the privilege of photographing several years ago), a fabulously talented make up artist, and a big, bright studio space for shooting.

We all spent the day looking fabulous and making great photos, trying new things, practicing new skills, and generally letting our creativity flow. Here are some of my favorite images from my camera that day. I’ll be sure to link back to the other photographers when they post some of their own!
