Over the last few months I have had the delight of working three times with Marcy Butler Designs, owned and steered by the sparkling Marcy Butler. I first met Marcy when she hired me to shoot a styled headshot/portrait session of herself with her intricate Italian linen aprons, the signature “design” in Marcy Butler Designs.
We had basically a total blast shooting together, and repeated the fun a few weeks later with a styled product shoot on a farm in the Northern Virginia hills. So when Marcy called to see if we could get her line of spring colors and the new twill fabric design photographed in time for her Southern Living profile (!!!) we made it happen.
Our St. Patricks Day snow storm almost put the kibosh on the shoot, set to be done on location in a Dupont Circle courtyard, but we got innovative and used the beautiful gray wall in my sunny dining room as our studio. The resulting shots of Marcy’s luscious aprons, modeled by Allison Howard, were above and beyond our expectations. Two hours in my “home studio”, several mimosas, and the lively conversation of three creative women made me wonder how on earth we all managed to make this our “work”.
Here are a few “behind the scenes” shots, just to prove what a great time we were having:
And a few more fabulous images:
And some more details of these gorgeous aprons:
Check out Marcy Butler Designs for more on these aprons and how to get one, because honestly, you need one.
